Meet the High-Waisted Brief: What Changed and Why

If you’ve worn Hem for a while, you know how personal the right support can feel. The details matter: how a garment fits when you first put it on, how supported you feel as you move through your day, and whether you’re still comfortable after hours on your feet.

We created the High-Waisted Brief with those everyday moments in mind. It’s a redesign of our original support garment, shaped by feedback from women living with prolapse — including women who already wore Hem. We asked them to try the new Brief, compare it with the pair they knew, and tell us honestly what they thought.

Here’s what we learned, what changed, and what to know as you choose your next pair.

The High Waisted Brief - Hem Support Wear

Why we redesigned Hem

Our original garment has helped many women feel more supported as they move through their days. We redesigned it because we kept hearing from customers about the fit they wanted, and we wanted to see if we could make that everyday experience even better.

Before launch, women living with prolapse across different sizes and stages wore the High-Waisted Brief as part of their normal routines. Some had experience with our original garment, which gave them a helpful point of comparison. They could tell us how the new Brief felt while working, caring for kids, running errands, and spending long stretches of time on their feet.

That feedback helped us look beyond how a garment feels when you first put it on. We wanted to know what it actually felt like to live in.

A closer, more supported fit

The High-Waisted Brief is redesigned for a closer fit and a more supported feel. Testers who wore both the original and the new Brief generally preferred the redesign for fit and support.

Some described feeling less of the heaviness or “falling out” sensation that can come with prolapse. They also told us about wearing the Brief through full, active days.

Those are the moments we care about most: when you’re focused on living your life and want your support to move through it with you.

Experiences varied, as we expected. Every body — and every experience with prolapse — is different. We’ll always listen to the women who tell us what’s working and what they would still like us to improve.

"I can honestly say these HEM pants have changed my life. On the majority of days the pants have given me the support I need and I hardly notice the symptoms." – Charlotte, High-Waisted Brief Tester

One style instead of two fits

We also made the High-Waisted Brief simpler to shop.

Our previous garment came in two fits. The redesigned Brief comes in one style, so you no longer need to choose between fit options before selecting your size.

Choosing prolapse support can already feel like a lot. We wanted to make the starting point more straightforward, whether this is your first Hem garment or you’ve worn the original for years.

If you’re a returning customer, keep in mind that the High-Waisted Brief is a redesigned garment. Check out our updated sizing information when ordering rather than assuming your previous selection will feel exactly the same.

"I love the new version of the Hem Support Wear. It really makes a difference with my prolapse. It’s so nice to be able to wear a garment that fits like regular panties." – Juliann, High-Waisted Brief Tester

Frequently Asked Questions About the High-Waisted Brief

What is prolapse support underwear?

Prolapse support underwear is designed to provide added support around the pelvic area while you move through your day. For some women living with pelvic organ prolapse, that added support may help make symptoms like heaviness, pressure, or a “falling out” sensation feel more manageable.

The right level of support can feel different from person to person, so fit matters.

How should prolapse support underwear fit?

Prolapse support underwear should feel supportive without feeling uncomfortably tight. You want a close fit that stays in place as you move, while still allowing you to go about your normal day comfortably.

Because every body is different, the best starting size may not always be obvious. Take our size quiz to find your recommended starting fit.

How is the High-Waisted Brief different from the original Hem garment?

The High-Waisted Brief is a redesign of Hem’s original support garment. It was developed with feedback from women living with prolapse, including women who had worn the original Hem garment.

The redesigned Brief has a closer, more supported fit and comes in one style instead of two separate fit options.

I already wear Hem. Should I order the same size?

Not necessarily. Because the High-Waisted Brief is a redesigned garment, your best size may be different from what you wore in the original Hem style.

We recommend checking the current size guide or taking our size quiz before ordering instead of assuming your previous size will fit exactly the same.

What if I’m between sizes or not sure what to order?

Start with our size quiz for a personalized recommendation based on the information you provide. If you are in between sizes, we recommend sizing up to start.

If you still have questions, reach out to us. We’re happy to help you choose a starting size.

Will the High-Waisted Brief make my prolapse symptoms go away?

No garment can promise to eliminate prolapse symptoms, and every person’s experience is different.

The High-Waisted Brief is designed to provide support while you go about your day. Some testers reported feeling less heaviness or less of a “falling out” sensation while wearing it, but individual experiences can vary.
