Is Pelvic Support Covered by HSA/FSA? What to Know in 2026

If you're navigating pelvic organ prolapse, postpartum healing, or perineal pressure, you've likely looked into pelvic support garments for symptom relief. But one big question may be holding you back from clicking “add to cart”:

Can I use my HSA or FSA funds for this?

Let’s break down how HSA (Health Savings Account) and FSA (Flexible Spending Account) reimbursements work, what’s required, and how to get the support you need without breaking the bank.

What Are HSA and FSA Accounts?

Both HSA and FSA accounts let you set aside pre-tax dollars to cover eligible medical expenses. The key difference:

  • HSA: Only available with high-deductible health plans. Funds roll over each year.
  • FSA: Available through employer plans. Typically “use it or lose it” within the plan year.

The good news? Both can be used for medically necessary pelvic support garments in many cases.

Are Pelvic Support Garments HSA/FSA Eligible?

Yes—in many cases, pelvic support garments like those used for prolapse relief, postpartum healing, and vulvar varicosities can be reimbursed through HSA/FSA accounts. But there's a catch: most providers require documentation that the item is medically necessary.

This is especially true for:

  • Postpartum recovery (diastasis recti, perineal support)
  • Pelvic organ prolapse (POP) management
  • Support during pregnancy or while waiting for surgery
  • Symptom management for vulvar varicosities

We know from our community that support garments often make everyday tasks—like carrying your baby, going for a walk, or even standing at work—actually feel doable again.

✅ What You'll Need to use your HSA/FSA funds:

  • A Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) from your healthcare provider (more on that below)
  • You may also need a detailed receipt or invoice from the company you purchased from

What’s a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN)?

This is a simple note from a medical provider (such as an OBGYN, primary care physician, or pelvic floor physical therapist) stating:

  • Your diagnosis (e.g., pelvic organ prolapse, diastasis recti)
  • The product recommended (e.g., pelvic support garment)
  • Why it’s medically necessary for your treatment or daily function

At Hem Support Wear, we've partnered with Gale to make this process as easy and seamless as possible!

How to Use Your HSA/FSA in 3 Easy Steps

We've partnered with Gale to help you easily use your HSA/FSA funds. Our garments qualify when you get a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN). Gale makes it simple—just complete a quick survey at checkout.

Here's how the process works:

  1. Add products to your cart.
  2. Select "Gale HSA & FSA" at checkout. (Must check out as a guest.) Gale will walk you through a short survey about your needs, and a licensed provider will review it.
  3. Pay with your HSA/FSA Card. If medically justified, your LMN is issued and payment goes through, usually within 24 hours.

📅 Good for 12 Months
Once approved through Gale, your LMN is valid for repeat purchases on our site for up to a year.

Prefer to use your own provider for the LMN? Check out with a regular credit or debit card, then request reimbursement through your HSA/FSA.

Pelvic Support Is an Investment in Your Healing—not a Splurge

So many women delay getting the support they need because of financial hesitation. But here’s the reality:

  • If you're managing prolapse symptoms or recovering postpartum, pelvic support isn’t a luxury—it’s a medical necessity.
  • Waiting to feel “bad enough” often prolongs healing.
  • Small supports can make a big difference—even for mild prolapse or early postpartum recovery.
  • Reimbursement makes care more accessible and affordable.
  • Using pre-tax dollars saves you real money—often 20–30% or more.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use my HSA or FSA at Hem Support Wear?

Yes! Our pelvic floor support garments are HSA/FSA eligible with a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN). Accessories like washing bags and gift cards are not covered.

❓ Do I have to have a formal diagnosis to use my HSA/FSA card?

No, you do not have to have a formal diagnosis. The information you provide to Gale will be shared with a licensed healthcare provider, who will then review your responses to determine if a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) can be issued. If your symptoms and needs meet the criteria, your purchase will be approved—often within 24 hours.

❓ Do I have to use Gale for my LMN?

To use your HSA/FSA card directly at checkout, yes—you’ll need to go through Gale. If you prefer to use your own provider for an LMN, you can do that, but you’ll need to check out with a regular debit/credit card and then request reimbursement from your HSA/FSA provider.

❓ Can I use my regular credit card?

Absolutely. If you’d rather not use your HSA/FSA, you can always pay with any major debit or credit card and request reimbursement.
